Carl Hanlon is The World Bank manager of communications for climate change and planet. In this role, he develops and executes communications campaigns on agriculture and food, water, environment and biodiversity, sustainable development, and climate change. He also leads engagement with external partners, including government, private sector, academics, civil society, organizations, and others with a focus on climate change. Carl has led the Bank’s communications messaging and strategy at the last three Climate COP meetings. Previously at the World Bank, he lead the communications teams in East Asia, Pacific, and Europe, and Central Asia, and he has managed corporate communications.
Before joining the World Bank, Carl was a Canadian White House correspondent covering US politics and Canada - US relations.
He has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and English and a masters of business administration from the University of Maryland global campus.
