Carlos Griffin

Foreign Trade and Investment Consultant

Carlos Griffin has been a foreign trade and investment consultant to the World Bank Group (WBG), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and developing country governments for seven years. During that time, he has provided advisory services and training to trade and investment promotion organizations and their partners in 17 countries in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Carlos is the author or co-author of Global Investment Promotion Best Practices 2012 (WBG, 2012), Promoting Low-Carbon Investment (UNCTAD, forthcoming), Investment Promotion and Regulation: Can They Co-exist in One Body? (WBG, 2011), Investment Promotion Essentials (WBG, 2009), and Investment Promotion Agencies as Policy Advocates (UNCTAD, 2008). Prior to entering this field, Carlos was the U.S. sales coordinator for Sumitomo Electric, a Japanese manufacturer of industrial components in the telecommunication and aerospace industries. He speaks English, Spanish, and Japanese, and holds a Master’s degree in International Trade Policy from Middlebury College’s Monterey Institute of International Studies.
