Dr. Carole Chartouni

Economist, Social Protection and Labor Global Practice, World Bank

Dr. Carole Chartouni is an Economist with the Social Protection and Labor Global Practice of the World Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked for the Dubai Economic Council, a government research body in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has worked extensively in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries on labor market issues including supporting the government in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on improving labor market outcomes for nationals through the productive employment in the private sector. Carole has authored a number of papers on the labor markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. As a World Bank professional, she has also worked on labor market issues in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in Economics from the American University of Beirut.
