Carolina Mejía-Mantilla is a Senior Economist in the Poverty and Equity Practice currently working in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. She has led analytical work and provided policy advice in South Asia, South East Asia and, more recently, East Africa. Her research interests include migration, the effect of public policies on poverty, the evaluation of social protection programs on wellbeing and labor market outcomes, the analysis of shocks (weather, price, health) on different wellbeing measures, and the effect of behavioral interventions on economic activities. She joined the World Bank as part of the Young Professionals Program in 2013. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California in Los Angeles, and a MSc and BA in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes, in Bogotá-Colombia.
