Senior Agriculture Specialist

Caroline Plante works since 2011 with the World Bank’s Global Food and Agriculture Practice (GFADR) as a Senior Agriculture specialist, promoting investments in this sector with a stronger focus on sustainable livestock development and related global public goods (health, environment and equity). She is now in charge of the Regional Sahel Pastoralism Support Project spanning six countries and supporting several other programs on agriculture and livestock in the region. When joining the Bank, she has been strongly involved in the animal health-related interventions and governance of veterinary services, as well as acting interfacing with other public health sectors to promote a “One Health” approach. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2011, she worked at the OIE for 6 years, rolling out programs for the development of capacities of Veterinary Services in Africa, Europe and Central Asia.  She also spent 5 years in the Ministry of Agriculture in France, working on disease prevention and control, import and export certification, animal welfare, food safety and environmental issues.
