Economist

Cesar Alfredo Cancho is an Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice. He works on issues related to the distributional impact of fiscal and social policies, welfare measurement, labor market dynamics and subjective wellbeing. He has led a number of different analytical and operational projects in the Europe and Central Asia region, including the FYR Macedonia SCD, Growth and Jobs Action Plan Support in FYR Macedonia, Distributional Impact of Tobacco Taxation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Distributional Impact Analysis of Fiscal Policies in Georgia, among other projects. Prior to joining the World Bank, Cesar worked for the Inter-American Development Bank, the Peruvian Government within two different agencies (Ministry of Agriculture and Telecommunications Regulatory Agency) and think tanks in Peru (GRADE and Apoyo Institute). He holds a PhD in Economics from Texas A&M University and a BSc from Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
