Chandan Sapkota is an Economics Officer at Asian Development Bank, Nepal Resident Mission. He previously worked as a researcher at South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (Kathmandu) and a Junior Fellow at Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (Washington, DC). Sapkota was consultant for the Ministry of Commerce & Supplies, (Government of Nepal), UNDP and FAO, among others. He was also an op-ed columnist (macroeconomic issues) for Republica English Daily during 2008-2012 and later briefly for Nepali Times. Sapkota has co-authored a report and a book chapter on the national rural employment guarantee scheme in India. His has published research papers in Journal of Development Studies, Energy Policy, International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology, and Journal of South Asian Development, among others. Additionally, he has authored numerous papers and reports on a wide range of macroeconomic issues pertinent to Nepalese economy and developing countries. A graduate of Dickinson College, Sapkota is also a frequent blogger on contemporary development economic issues.
