Christine Davies joined the Investor Relations team in the Capital Markets Department of the World Bank’s Treasury in July 2013. The World Bank borrows around $30 billion annually in the international capital markets. Functions of the investor relations team include managing relationships with bond investors and rating agencies, and developing new debt products for investors, including the World Bank Green Bonds. Christine also performs these functions for the International Finance Facility for Immunisation (IFFIm), for which the World Bank acts as treasury manager.
Christine has 15 years of professional finance experience, which includes a diverse portfolio of roles in addition to her current position. Prior to joining the Capital Markets Department, she spent five years working for the International Development Association (IDA)—the World Bank’s concessional lending arm—leading work designing innovative financing solutions to mobilize resources for IDA’s operations, among other corporate finance responsibilities. Christine also worked in the World Bank Treasury Operations department supporting both the World Bank’s lending and investment operations from 2005 to 2008. She started her career at the World Bank Group with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) after working for State Street Bank in London from 2002 to 2004. Christine qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa working for Deloittes from 1999 to 2001.
