Christine Namirembe Katende, a Ugandan national, is a Lawyer and Social Development Specialist with over 15 years’ experience in acquisition of land rights, involuntary resettlement and relocation and stakeholder engagement. Christine currently supports the Uganda portfolio.
Before joining the WorldBank last year, she worked on issues of social inclusion and the role of gender in land ownership during her tenure as a Land Registrar of Titles in Uganda. She gained practical experience in social risk management and compliance with social safeguards policies through her work with infrastructure development projects with the Uganda National Roads Authority. She has also supported land acquisition in the private sector in the Oil and Gas and Hydropower industries.
Christine holds a Master’s Degree in Land Management from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
