Cirenia Chávez Villegas is an education officer at UNHCR, working in the area of data and evidence, based in Copenhagen. She is an experienced mixed-methods researcher, and has carried out extensive work on varied subjects including youth at risk in Mexico and school-related violence in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has a PhD in Development Studies (University of Cambridge) and a background in International Relations (M.A. New York University, B.A. Tecnológico de Monterrey). She was the recipient of numerous scholarships, including Cambridge Trust and Fulbright. She has previously worked as with other international organizations organisations, including UNICEF Office of Research – Innocenti and UNDP-Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean. She has also engaged in teaching activities in the master’s programme at the Centre of Latin American Studies (CLAS) at the University of Cambridge.
