Claire Markgraf joined the World Bank in 2008 as a junior professional associate in the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) and subsequently joined the office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for development economics. She left the institution to join the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing and attend graduate school at MIT, where she studied urban development and solid waste. She re-joined the Bank’s global urban unit in 2014, where she focuses on solid waste and low carbon cities
