Claudia Berg has been working at the World Bank since 2013, currently within the Development Research Group. Previously, she was a researcher in the Sustainable Development Front Office of the Africa region. Her research interests have been on transport policies, with a special focus on rural poverty and the geographic aspects of transport infrastructure. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at George Washington University where she taught microeconomics and earned a PhD in Economics. Her dissertation focused on microfinance and its impact on the ultrapoor in Bangladesh. She also holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom and a B.A. in International Economics from Franklin College Switzerland.
