Congyan Tan

Senior Economist, Office of the Chief Economist, East Asia and Pacific Region, The World Bank

Congyan Tan is a Senior Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist of the World Bank's East Asia and Pacific region. He leads the regional economic report series East Asia and Pacific Economic Update. Prior to East Asia and Pacific, Congyan has worked in South Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, and Europe and Central Asia, primarily on macroeconomic, fiscal, and financial sector issues. His last position was country economist leading the World Bank’s economic policy dialogue and work program in Azerbaijan.
 
Congyan holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He also studied in Peking University and the University of Toronto, and was a visiting fellow at MIT.
