Daniel Hyslop is an applied researcher focused on development studies, peace and conflict, and economics. Between 2011 and 2018, he was the Research Director at the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) where he led development of several years of the Global Peace Index report and several research projects on drivers and trends in peace and conflict and on the economic impact of conflict.
He has worked as a consultant to various intergovernmental organisations and think tanks including various United Nations agencies, the World Bank, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
Previously, he worked in the Australian Public Service, was a research associate at a political affairs company in Sydney and was research fellow at the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University where he studied the political economy of the Chinese health care system. He holds a Masters of Economics (Social Sciences) (First Class Honours) from Sydney University.
