David Clarke is from Wellington, New Zealand and is a lawyer who specialises in health law and policy. David currently leads work at WHO HQ in Geneva in three main topic areas:
1. Engaging the private sector to help achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC)
2. Using the law to deliver UHC
3. ACTA – Anti-corruption transparency and accountability in health
Before joining WHO David worked as a lawyer for the NZ Ministry of Health working on amongst other things New Zealand's health reforms. He left the Ministry in 2000 to work on a health reforms project for the government of Trinidad and Tobago. David then co-founded and worked as a partner in a public policy consulting company where he worked in global health for governments, NGOs, and development agencies before moving to Geneva in 2015 to work for WHO.
