David Makram Bishai

Dr. Bishai is a health economist specialized in the economic evaluation of public health programs. His latest book, Achieving Health for All won the Sharmanov Prize for contributions to the field of Primary Health Care.  He has 260 peer-reviewed publications in health economics.

Dr. Bishai received his Ph.D. in Health Care Systems from the Wharton School of Business in 1996.  In 1987, he received his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego, and his M.P.H. from UCLA.  His residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics was completed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.   He is a member of the Economic Research Forum and former president of the International Health Economics Association.
