David Patterson is a conservationist specializing in geospatial data applications at WWF-UK. He first joined WWF in 2017 and has worked primarily to better understand the status of the natural world via geospatial data-driven approaches. Since 2019, he’s led the Conservation Intelligence team and their development of WWF-SIGHT, a global mapping platform. Alongside this, he’s worked on traditional conservation science topics, developed novel datasets, and helped developed methodologies and data products for application within the financial sector to improve climate and environmental insight. Notably running WWF’s first geospatial ESG assessment of the Oil and Gas sector in 2018. Currently he is focusing on the integration and triangulation of other forms of data into spatial approaches to improve insight into environmental impact monitoring at a global scale. David holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. Prior, David worked for New Zealand’s Department and Conservation.
