David Warren is World Bank Practice Manager for Social Sustainability & Inclusion in Eastern and Southern Africa. He was previously Manager of Social Development in South Asia and has served as Adviser in the office of the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Warren first joined the World Bank in 1989 and has worked on a range of development issues, including social inclusion and gender, safety nets, education, health & nutrition, participatory local development, impact evaluation, and approaches in fragile states and post-disaster contexts. He has worked in countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked as a teacher. Mr. Warren is a U.S. National, has lived and worked in Central America and in Europe, holds a Master degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a BA in English and American Literature from Brown University.
