Economist

Dennis Sanchez Navarro is an Economist in the Global Markets, Competition, and Technology unit of the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice at the World Bank Group, where she has developed analytics, databases, metrics, and methodologies for assessing the role of the state in markets, competition issues as well as identifying rules and policies that can hinder private sector development.

With more than 15 years of experience, she has advised governments on designing and implementing pro-competitive reforms to enable private capital mobilization, productivity, and growth across the globe including Botswana, Cabo Verde, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Türkiye, The Gambia, as well as promoting sectoral reforms in her native Colombia working at the Competition Authority.

She holds a Master’s in public administration from Columbia University, and a Master’s and BS in Economics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She has co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals on the effects of regulation and competition issues on productivity, investment, labor markets and has contributed to World Bank flagships.
