Derek Chen

Economist

Derek H. C. Chen is a macroeconomist with the Development Prospects Group at the World Bank. A Singapore national, Derek joined the World Bank in 2000, after obtaining his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Davis. 
 
During his thirteen-year tenure at the Bank, Derek has worked on a number of fields including economic growth, poverty analysis, demographic economics, and employment creation.  Currently, he is a contributing author to the World Bank’s semi-annual flagship report, the Global Economic Prospects, focusing on the Latin American and Caribbean region.
