Dessislav Dobrev is currently working at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency at The World Bank. He has previously practiced law in New York (United States), Toronto (Canada) and Sofia (Bulgaria). He is the winner of the Bronze Medal and First Prizes in Contract Law and Constitutional Law at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. Dessislav also holds a civil law degree from Sofia University in Bulgaria and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Toronto.
Dessislav has worked on complex international transactions involving multinational companies and has drafted contracts and other legal documentation for such transactions. He has also managed projects assisting the Public International Law & Policy Group, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee (e.g., drafting proposed legislation for post-2011 Southern Sudan citizenship, providing judicial reform advice to Uganda on procedural rules for the War Crimes Division of the High Court of Uganda). Dessislav has also represented individuals seeking asylum based on political persecution.
