Diego Ambasz is a Senior Education Specialist for the East Asia and Pacific Region and Co-Global Lead for Education and Climate Change in the Education Global Practice at the World Bank. With a rich background in Higher Education, Science and Technology, Innovation, and Education and Climate, Diego has led numerous education projects and analytical tasks across Latin America, Europe, and Central Asia.
He joined the World Bank in 2003, after holding senior analytical and management positions in Argentina’s public administration. Diego’s academic experience includes teaching public policy at various universities in Argentina, where he has contributed significantly to the field through his work as a professor.
Diego has authored and co-authored several influential publications, including books, articles, papers, and blogs, with a particular focus on education and innovation policy. His recent work includes the report "Making the European Green Deal Work for People: The Role of Human Development in the Green Transition" (2023). Additionally, he co-authored “R&D Policy and the Role of Research Institutions in Fostering Green Innovation in Poland” (2023), "Towards a New Academic Career Framework for Latvia" (2022), "Towards Higher Education Excellence in Central Asia: A Roadmap for Improving the Quality of Education and Research through Regional Integration" (2023), and "Choosing Our Future: How to Harness Education for Climate Action" (2024). His contributions to these publications underscore his commitment to enhancing educational frameworks and leveraging education for climate action.
