Economist

Diego Ubfal is an Economist in the Africa Region Gender Innovation Lab. His research interests include entrepreneurship with focus on business training, soft-skills development, networks and innovation; human capital formation and the transition from school to work; financial access, and attitudes towards minorities. Prior to joining the World Bank, Diego was Assistant Professor at Bocconi University, and research affiliate at JPAL, IPA, IZA, EUDN, LEAP and IGIER. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, a Master degree from the University of San Andrés, and a PhD from UCLA. He was a Fulbright scholar and he taught courses on Impact Evaluation and Development Economics at Bocconi and Columbia University.  His research can be found on his webpage.
