Diego Wachs is an Economist at the World Bank’s Social Protection Global Unit, with an international Ph.D. in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s in Applied Economics from UTDT. He has previously worked as a researcher at the London School of Economics and contributed to projects with the IMF and IADB. In his role, Diego supports countries in adapting public institutions and programs to the challenges of aging populations, with a focus on pensions, long-term care, labor markets, and fiscal sustainability. He has deep expertise in applying quantitative methods to analyze the micro and macroeconomic impacts of aging. Diego’s work spans engagements in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
