Dieter De Smet is a Consultant in the World Bank’s Finance and Markets Global Practice. In his current assignment at the World Bank’s Global Knowledge and Research Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he advises governments on policies and regulatory issues related to remittances, financial inclusion and financial sector reform. Since joining the Bank in 2011, Dieter has developed various knowledge products and legal indicators related to skilled migration, construction permits and contract farming. Dieter holds a J.D. from Ghent University, an LLM from the University of Pennsylvania and the National University of Singapore, as well as a MA from Aveiro University.
