Dilek Aykut is a specialist on international capital flows to developing countries. She contributes to the department's two annual flagship publications -- Global Economic Prospects and Global Development Finance. She was the author of the chapter "Capital flows in a time of global financial turmoil" in Global Development Finance 2009. Prior to joining the Prospects Group, Dilek worked at the Trade Department and Poverty Reduction and Economic Management network of the World Bank. She has written several papers on foreign direct investment, international remittances and international debt flows to developing countries and financial globalization. She is a globally recognized expert and frequent speaker on foreign direct investment and South-South capital flows. Aykut holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Bogazici University in Turkey and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
