Diwa Samad is a health economist with the Global Financing Facility (GFF) in the World Bank. She has extensive experience working with the government and international organizations. Before joining the GFF, she worked as a Senior Health System Specialist at the Global Fund in Geneva, providing technical support to countries on health system governance and financing. She has also held various roles in the Government of Afghanistan, including Deputy Minister of Health, and Special Aide to the President of Afghanistan on healthcare reform. In these roles, Diwa led multi-sectoral efforts to improve health outcomes in Afghanistan. She has also engaged in teaching and mentorship for students across countries. Diwa’s holds a bachelor’s in economics, and master’s degree in economics from the University of Malaya.
