Djeneba Doumbia is a Country Economist in the Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment (MTI) Global Practice at the World Bank where she leads the police dialogue and diverse projects, including core country diagnostics and economic updates for Equatorial Guinea, and the CEMAC economic barometer. Prior to this position, Djeneba was a research economist in the Economics and Private Sector Development VP of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Previously, she was a EFI (Jan Walliser) fellow in the office of the Senior Director in the MTI GP, where she co-authored a report on how to reinvigorate growth in resource-rich Sub-Saharan African countries. In the Poverty GP, she contributed to analytical products, including a poverty assessment report. Her work experience prior to the World Bank Group includes the Research Division of the OECD’s Development Center. Djeneba holds a PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics (PSE) and University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a master’s degree in economics from PSE, University Paris I, and Ecole Normale Supérieure. She taught macroeconomics at University Paris-Nanterre and published several papers, including in peer-reviewed journals, on a range of topics related to inclusive growth; income inequality; fiscal policy; (climate) finance; and private sector development.
