Djibrilla Issa is Practice Manager for Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation (FCI) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the World Bank. He joined the World Bank in 2001. He’s held various positions in the Finance and Private Sector Development Practice Group, in the Africa and the MENA Regions including: (i) Country Manager of the World Bank for Congo; (ii) Sector Lead for Trade and Competitiveness; and (iii) Lead Financial Sector Specialist. Prior to joining the World Bank, he has worked at the regional Central Bank of the West African States (BCEAO) from 1996-2001 as economist and then manager of banking regulations and supervision. He has also worked in research and academia on trade and regional integration in Europe and Africa.
