Doug Maher is the chief risk officer of the global Industry and Healthcare Finance business at Siemens Financial Services (SFS), evaluating and mitigating financial risk for SFS's transactions in global healthcare and industrial markets.
Doug’s international experience includes a broad range of senior management, underwriting, portfolio, work-out, originations, asset management, and deal negotiation/documentation positions throughout all phases of risk management.
With expertise in infrastructure project finance, leveraged finance, structured leasing, asset back lending, transportation finance and public finance, Doug is responsible for managing a $13 billion globally diversified portfolio across infrastructure and project finance assets, such as airports, roads, social infrastructure (hospitals), waste-to-energy, transportation (rail, maritime, air), municipal finance, corporate finance and structured leasing.
Previously, Doug was the head of risk for corporate and working capital finance at SFS in North America. In this position, he most notably established the leveraged finance business line, including the credit process and standards for underwriting and managing cash flow and asset backed transactions. This helped grow the business by $1.5 billion in three years.
Prior to joining Siemens in 2008, Doug was managing director and chief underwriting officer at Deutsche Bank, where he focused on mid-market lending. Before that, Doug was managing director and chief credit officer of commercial finance at CIT in London. Before joining CIT, Doug held various leadership positions within Credit Suisse First Boston and JP Morgan & Co.
Doug holds a BBA and an MBA in public accounting from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business. He is a certified public accountant and was previously licensed to trade and sell securities, such as bonds.
