Dr. Parveez Ubed is the Founder and Managing Director of ERC Eye Care, a sustainable enterprise dedicated to providing quality, affordable and accessible eye care solutions for rural populations in North East India. An ophthalmologist by training, Dr. Ubed is driven by a passion to create a long-lasting solution to making eye care available to his fellow citizens in North East India and beyond.
Dr. Ubed graduated from Guwahati Medical College, one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in the North East Indian state of Assam, where he excelled at his specialization in ophthalmology. After he graduated in 2007, he decided against traveling to larger cities with desirable offers in order to stay in his home state of Assam and be an active member of the economy. After practicing in a private hospital, Dr. Ubed came to the realization that he wanted to dedicate his knowledge to serving his fellow Assamese and founded ERC Eye Care in June of 2011.
Armed with the intimate knowledge of the issues that face the rural poor in Assam, Dr. Ubed has created an innovative business model that addresses the various aspects of delivering eye care to the rural populations. This includes their patient’s expectations, challenges they face to get eye care, and the availability of doctors.
