Edgar Salgado

Economist, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

Edgar Salgado is an Economist working in the Economic Market Research Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group. His research currently focuses on understanding the interaction between market distortions and technology adoption, firm dynamics, entrepreneurship, and structural transformation. Before joining IFC, Edgar worked as Specialist in the Competitiveness, Technology, and Innovation division at the Inter-American Development Bank and as a Consultant in the Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness Division. His general research interests are development economics, with emphasis on productivity, labor markets, urban economics, political economy, gender, and conflict. Edgar holds a PhD in Economics (2017), and a MSc in Development Economics (2010) from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom; and a BA in Economics (2005) from Universidad del Pacifico, Peru.
