Elleanor Robins is the sector lead for IFC’s municipal finance business and focuses on furthering sustainable borrowing by subnational entities in emerging markets. She also originates and executes municipal finance, water and waste transactions and works closely with colleagues developing and delivering new solutions for cities as part of IFC’s Cities initiative.
Before coming to the cities space, Elleanor spent seven years working on investments in infrastructure in Africa. She has closed a range of complex transactions in the power and transport sectors, spanning project finance, corporate finance and equity. Elleanor also played an active role in the design of the World Bank Group’s landmark Scaling Solar program.
Prior to joining IFC, Elleanor worked in banking in New York and Paris and spent time traveling across Western and Northern Africa to support small grassroots credit cooperatives. Elleanor holds a Masters’ Degree in International Economic Policy from Sciences Po in Paris, France.
