Senior Consultant

Eloïse Obadia is a Senior Consultant for the Investment Climate unit of the World Bank Group’s Trade, Investment, and Competitiveness Global Practice since 2016. She focuses her practice on policy, legal and regulatory reforms to enable countries to attract, retain and benefit from foreign direct investment. Her work includes assisting African countries with the implementation of the Protocol on Investment to the AfCFTA Agreement. Before her consultancy at the Bank, she was partner for four years with a boutique law firm specialized in international arbitration where she acted as counsel in investor-State arbitration.

Prior to joining private practice, she was Senior Counsel and Team Leader at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), part of the World Bank Group. Before ICSID, she practiced law in Paris, France where she participated in the representation of companies and States in international arbitration and conciliation cases.

She holds a post graduate law degree from Duke University (Durham, USA), a law degree from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and a business-law degree from the University of Paris-Dauphine. She is a dual qualified attorney admitted to practice in New York and Paris, France.
