Emma Monsalve is a Senior Social Protection Specialist with the World Bank’s Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice in Africa. She has over 10 years of experience working in social protection and employment across both Africa and Latin America. Prior to joining the World Bank, Emma worked with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Central Bank of Colombia. Her work has focused on social safety net design, service delivery, employment, and the links between sectors such as poverty, education, and health. She has led several analytical and lending operations in the Africa Region. Emma currently manages a portfolio of operational and analytical operations in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, focusing on social assistance and jobs programs. She holds a Master's in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Antioquia in Colombia.
