Emmanuel Py currently serves as an Infrastructure Specialist in the World Bank Group’s East Asia and Pacific Region's Energy Sector. He is the Task Team Leader of the China Heat Reform & Building Energy Efficiency GEF Project, the co-Task Team Leader of the China Climate Technology Needs Assessment GEF Project, and the co-Task Team Leader of the China Unconventional Gas Case Study. He has worked on energy and sustainable development issues for more than 11 years at the Bank and in the private sector. Prior to working on district heating, climate technologies, and the gas sector, he worked for the Bank on low-carbon cities (in the transport and energy sectors) and on small & medium hydropower development. He also worked for the private sector (Bouygues Building, Paris, and Schlumberger Oilfield Services, Houston) as a project engineer, and was teaching assistant in Physics at UC Berkeley. He holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from UC Berkeley, an M.Sc. in Civil & Industrial Engineering from ENPC ParisTech (France), and a B.Sc. (equivalent) in Mathematics and Physics from ENPC ParisTech (France).
