Enrique Blanco Armas is the Manager for the International Development Association (IDA) Strategy and Operations team in the Development Finance Vice Presidency. In this position he leads and helps shape the high-level strategic engagements on IDA20, an unprecedented advanced replenishment by one year, and monitors and implements the IDA19 policy frameworks and actions. Mr. Blanco Armas is a Spanish national who joined the Bank in September 2005 through the Young Professionals Program. Since then, he has held various positions and roles of increasing responsibility in different regions (East Asia and Pacific, Africa, South Asia, and Europe and Central Asia) in the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice. He has engaged in more than 100 lending and non-lending projects, and authored several research papers and publications. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked as an ODI Fellow for the Government of Mozambique, focusing on trade and economic policy issues. He holds a Masters in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
