Health Specialist with the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice in the Middle, East and North Africa

Farah Asfahani is a Health Specialist with the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice in the Middle, East and North Africa (MENA) Region, based in Beirut. She began her career in the aid sector working with international NGOs and UN agencies on humanitarian emergency responses in the Middle East and in East and West Africa.  She supported the famine response in South Sudan, the refugee response in Uganda, the Kasai response in DRC and the Syria response in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. Later, Farah joined the French Development Agency in Beirut, Lebanon where she worked on development projects as the Regional Health and Social Protection Manager for the Middle East. Farah has a Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has an interest in research and has published a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Adolescent Health on food insecurity and wellbeing among Arab youth.
