Senior Health Specialist, World Bank

Fatima Barry is a Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank, based in Lomé, Togo, since September 2023. She joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 2018 and has supported several health operations in West and Central Africa, focusing on maternal, child, and adolescent health, health systems strengthening, as well as epidemic and pandemic preparedness and response. She is currently the Task Team Leader for the health portfolio in Togo as well as the Co-Task Team Leader for the health portfolio in Benin. Before joining the World Bank, Fatima worked for several national and international organizations in the fields of public health, international development, and program management, such as PSI, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, LITE-Africa, and the Aspen Institute. Fatima holds a PhD in Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences from Michigan State University, focused on the environmental determinants of maternal and child health. She also obtained a dual master’s degree in International Relations and in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development from the American University in Washington, DC, and the UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica.
