Hon. Uz. Fayyaz Ismail is the Minister of Economic Development of the current government and an active member of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). He was educated at Middlesex University and has a Bachelor of Laws. He is currently the Chairman of one of the premier law firms, Aequitas Legal Consultants and was also on the Board of Directors at a leading public relations and marketing firm and earlier at the lead telecommunications group Dhiraagu. Until his appointment as Minister of Economic Development, he represented the Constituency of Laamu Atoll, Gan island in the Parliament, since 2014. He is a specialist in Maldives laws and in particular corporate, commercial laws and foreign investment.
