Flavia Carbonari is a social development and citizen security specialist. She is a consultant with the Social Development Department in East Asia and Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean, where she has been working in the design and implementation of operational and research projects on social inclusion, citizen security and social accountability, and providing technical assistance and capacity building. She has also consulted for NGOs in Brazil. She joined the Bank in 2007, and prior to that worked with different think tanks in the DC area and as a journalist covering international politics and economics. Flavia holds a M.A. in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University, and graduated from Pontifícea Universidade Católica of São Paulo with a B.A. in International Relations and a B.A. in Journalism.
