Francis Donalbain Chukwu, Counsel, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA)
Francis is counsel at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group. He is responsible for providing legal advice regarding guarantee operations, drafting and negotiating contracts of guarantee and ancillary documents, conducting legal due diligence, reviewing client’s transaction documents, and advising on transaction structures in connection with MIGA’s operations.
Before joining MIGA, Francis was a finance and capital markets lawyer at the Paris office of the international law firm of Clifford Chance, specializing in cross-border project and corporate financing. Previously, Francis worked as a legal research officer at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and was an external consultant for the UNCTAD project on responsible sovereign lending and borrowing. Prior to his work at the IMF, Francis practiced law in Lagos, Nigeria, with Aluko & Oyebode, Nigeria’s biggest commercial law firm, specializing in litigation and dispute resolution, commercial and investment advisory, and corporate and project finance. Francis received his LLB from the University of Nigeria and an LLM in international business regulation, litigation and arbitration from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Nigeria and the State of New York.
