Franka is a MSc. Urbanism Graduate student at The Technical University of Delft. Her thesis is centred around the (informal) economy and the use of space in Dar es Salaam in relation to public infrastructure development (BRT-system). It is aiming at knowledge development rather than economic development, perceived from a spatial point of view. This involves questions such as: how can the design of certain spaces and buildings support existing neighborhood structures and networks?
Franka recently joined the World Bank Team to support the coordination of the Dar Open Spaces Upgrading Project, the design research studio on upgrading three public spaces in Dar es Salaam. This is in cooperation with the local government, Ardhi University and the University of Johannesburg.
