Gabriel Lara Ibarra is a Senior Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice. He has worked on topics related to poverty measurement and inequality in Egypt, Tunisia, Djibouti and Algeria; and conducted analyses on inequality of opportunity, housing savings and financial behavior in other countries. In Latin America, he has worked in Uruguay, Paraguay, Haiti and currently in Brazil, leading studies on the distributional impacts of public policies, correlates of poverty and social mobility, gender inequality, and the application of georeferenced data to analyze access to public services. Mr. Lara Ibarra holds a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Maryland.
