Gaby Guerrero Serdán is a development economist. She is currently Chief of Social Policy at UNICEF Kenya where she manages a portfolio comprising of social protection, public finance, devolution and child poverty research. She held similar positions with UNICEF in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Peru and Kazakhstan.
Gaby has also worked with UNDP in Lao PDR on Human Development and Poverty Reduction programmes. She has also been working in conflict and humanitarian settings with the UN mission to Timor Leste, and with NGOs and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe based in the Balkans.
Prior to joining UNICEF, Gaby was a research fellow at Yale University and taught at the University of London where she did her PhD. Gaby holds a PhD in Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London, an MA in development studies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague and a BA in Economics from University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico.
