Gang I Kim is a Jr. Professional Officer (JPO) in the World Bank Education Global Practice, supporting the higher education and skills development agenda in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. She is a core member of the Secretariat team hosted at the World Bank for the pan-African Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET) initiative. She has played a critical role in promoting knowledge exchange and leveraging technical assistance for SSA governments and universities, facilitating PASET Governances, and expanding partnerships among SSA governments and international partners. Also as a member of the project team for the PASET Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (RSIF), she contributes to operationalizing the Ph.D. training window and capacity building window by providing operational and technical support. Recently, she is also co-leading the Gender Portfolio Analysis initiative in the unit, contributing to strengthening the gender aspects of the unit's operations.
Prior to her current position at the World Bank, Gangi worked at the Korea Development Institute (KDI), a government think-tank under Prime Minister's Office (2013-2019). As a senior research associate and project officer, she led the implementation of several Knowledge Sharing Programs with Ethiopia and other countries, Korean government’s development cooperation program consisted of joint research, policy consultation and capacity building. She also conducted analytical studies in the areas of skills, employment and development financing, and led organizing high-profile international conferences in education. Gangi holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s in International Relations and Economics from Seoul National University in Korea.
