Regional Manager for Environment with the Planet Department of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region

Gayane Minasyan is Regional Manager for Environment with the Planet Department of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Region. In this capacity, she leads a large team and the Bank’s engagement in lending and advisory support to promote green growth and biodiversity and forest conservation; address air, water and land pollution; grow the blue economy; and manage environmental risks across the institution’s lending operations. Prior to her current role, Gayane served as Lead Environmental Specialist in the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Practice in the Bank’s South Asia Region where she supported and led teams across South Asian countries in providing policy advice and investment lending on forestry, landscapes, climate, blue economy, and the broader environmental policy agenda.

Gayane has more than 20 years of international experience in public and private sectors across East Asia, South Asia and Europe and Central Asia. She holds graduate degrees in economics from Yerevan State University and in environmental management and policy from Lund University, Sweden.
