Gemma Torras Vives leads the World Bank’s Climate Warehouse activities, which includes carbon market infrastructure, such as digital MRV systems, national carbon registries, tokenization instruments and the Climate Action Data Trust. Before joining the team, she co-led the World Bank’s Disruptive Technologies for Development (DT4D) Program, which identified and piloted emerging technologies for Bank operations. There, she led and contributed to use cases, stakeholder engagement and research on AI, distributed ledger technology, and other emerging technologies focusing mainly on the creation of new business models across value chains. Prior to joining the WBG, she worked at UNDP ECA Office, Microsoft Cities, UNESCO, UN Women, and co-founded a blockchain-powered start-up for displaced communities in MENA. She holds a MPA on economic development and technology from Columbia University and a LLB in International and European Law from the University of Groningen.
