George is currently a Social Protection Specialist at UNICEF Kenya, where he plays a pivotal role in the NICHE programme, a government-led initiative aimed at enhancing nutrition through social protection. His work involves coordinating the technical assistance to ensure the programme’s success.
Before his tenure at UNICEF, George provided his expertise as an economist to the World Bank’s Kenya Office. There, he contributed to various projects, including assessing export incentives, analyzing global value chains, and supporting the US-Kenya trade agreement negotiations. His prior experience also includes a stint at the World Bank’s South Africa Office with the Social Protection and Jobs team, where he focused on youth employment and skill development, addressing the challenges faced by marginalized groups.
George holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cape Town and both a BA and Masters in Economics from Kenyatta University. His research interests span poverty, inequality, impact evaluation, and behavioral science.
