Gerard started his career in water resource management at the Waterboard Rivierenland. Within the Waterboard he was responsible for the department that did research and developed policies and strategic plans on Integrated Water Resource Management.
In 2008 he joined Vitens Evides International to become Resident Project Manager in Vietnam where he worked on improving the Water Company of Danang. In 2011 he moved back to the Netherlands to work on business development and knowledge management for the Asia region in the position as Regional Director Asia. Since 2016 he has been working at the World Bank as Senior Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist with a focus on Building Sustainable Urban Utilities.
